NJWMA Scholarship Program
CRITERIA ESTABLISHED FOR 2010 SCHOLARSHIP
Award for the first year: $1,000.00
An additional $1,000.00 per year continuing for a maximum of three (3) more years if eligible.
(Potential: $4,000.00 over a four (4) year period)
Student eligible to apply:
1. Part time employees of a NJWMA member.
(Must be employed with same member for at least one (1) year)
2. Full time employees of a NJWMA member: employee’s sons, daughters or spouse.
(Must be employed with same member for at least one (1) year)
3. Independent contractors who have been with the sponsoring member for at least one (1) year.
4. NOTE: A ‘NJWMA member’ also includes Associate Members.
This scholarship is open to students meeting the above criteria PLUS:
1. Attending a two (2) year or four (4) year Junior College or University program.
2. Enrolled for a minimum course load of twelve (12) credit hours.
3. Graduating high school senior that has a minimum 2.5 grade point average.
4. Must be sponsored by a member in good standing with the NJWMA.
5. This scholarship is also open to present college students that have never received an award from NJWMA (second, third or fourth year students in college)
To remain eligible for future years:
1. The employee must remain an employee of a NJWMA member.
2. The Student’s sponsor must remain a NJWMA member.
3. The student/employee must maintain a 2.5 grade point average and provide
documentation to prove such to the NJWMA.
Application process:
1. Complete application form
2. Submit a persuasive essay (one (1) typed page maximum) including:
a. Why do you deserve this scholarship?
b. What are your career goals?
3. Include a letter of recommendation from the NJWMA sponsor (company’s principal).
4. Include a supplemental letter of recommendation from a teacher, minister, counselor, etc.
5. Must include your high school transcripts and SAT scores.
Awarding the Scholarship:
1. Applications will be available to applicants on line.
2. Deadline to apply is September 1, 2010.
3. NJWMA staff will receive all applications.
4. NJWMA will have as their guest, the student and his or her parents, or spouse, at the
convention dinner to receive the Scholarship Award.
